Dr. Steve Whitehead, the founder of MediMatch Consulting LLC, is an Emeritus Professor of Systems Pharmacology and Translational Therapeutics at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine in Philadelphia. He obtained his undergraduate and doctoral degrees at the Universities of Edinburgh and Oxford,

respectively, and has more than 45 years of experience in biomedical research. Prior to his recruitment to the University of Pennsylvania in 1997, Dr. Whitehead held faculty positions at Harvard Medical School and at the University of Dublin/Trinity College where he was the inaugural holder of the Smurfit Chair in Medical Genetics.

 

Dr. Whitehead is internationally recognized as an expert in the relationship between disrupted vitamin metabolism and human disease, and in the control of immune responses and inflammation. He has held multiple research grants from national government agencies, charitable foundations, pharmaceutical/biotech companies, and venture capital groups. His almost 200 original research papers include investigations into the underlying causes of a wide range of human diseases including cancer, heart disease, stroke, auto-immune conditions, inflammatory bowel diseases, depression, genetic conditions, and birth defects.

 

During his career, Dr. Whitehead has forged close personal and professional relationships with many prominent researchers in these and other areas of medical research, several of whom are members of the MediMatch Consulting Advisory Board. Through such relationships, as well as Dr. Whitehead’s own knowledge of cutting-edge research initiatives, MediMatch Consulting can find and engage the very best clinicians and scientists in most medical disciplines.
